Mount Peter is the oldest operating ski area in New York State, and one of only a few remaining family-operated ski areas in America. For decades, Mount Peter has been a wintertime destination for beginner racers to high level competitors and countless racing families who call each other their winter families. Our beautiful spot in the picturesque Warwick Valley is the backdrop of fond memories that span generations.
The Mount Peter Racing Program has many levels to the program which is elevated by the expertise that highly trained race coaches bring to each level of ski racing: There is a pre-racing Dynamite Program for athletes ages 7-10 that are Intermediate skiers. These athletes will be coached on new ski racing skills that will last them a lifetime and learn the first phases of ski racing. This team meets on Saturdays or Sundays from 8:30am to 11:30am starting in early January through March.. Then our athletes move up to the full racing program which is for athletes ages 6 to adult (U8-U21) who want expert coaching and training in the sport of ski racing and have the option to compete in U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned events through the New Jersey Ski Racing Association. These team from U8 through U21 train on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30-12:30 and U12 and up have gate training on Tuesday and Thursday nights from mid-December through mid March. If they qualify, they also have the opportunity to elevate their skills beyond our region and can participate in post season events throughout the Northeast
