Every ski race depends on volunteers to assure safe, fun and competitive races.
Most of the jobs require no special skills, and for those that do, you’ll get the training you need. Your club’s Volunteer Coordinator will help you find a job that suits you well. Here are descriptions of some of the jobs:

Greet racers when they arrive; hand out bibs and confirm athletes as they check in. |

Arranges for lunches for the volunteers. |

Set up and break down the Speakers and Microphones. Move it as needed. |

ANNOUNCER |
Work with the timing team to announce the racer’s names and times. |

SCOREBOARD |
This team prepares the scoreboard and records the times of all athletes. |
Outdoor Volunteer Activity |
START AND FINISH AREA VOLUNTEERS |
These include Hand Timers and Recorders, and Bib Collectors, who work with the Start and Finish Referees (themselves volunteers, but with USSSA Certification) to make sure these important areas are safe, efficient and functional. |

GATE JUDGES |
Gate Judges take positions on the course and confirm that athletes properly pass the gates in their area. Gate Judges typically must ski to their positions. |
